The round two match-ups for our Real Estate Hotties competition were revealed on Friday, so all that's left to do is open the voting! Up first, we have Jude Vargas of Guarantee Mortage versus Kevin Ho of Vanguard Properties.
Jude Vargas of Guarantee Mortage
What do you like to do when you're not selling real estate? I enjoy all that San Francisco has to offer; I live in a loft in the mission and love riding my bicycle around town. I also love cooking and going to the farmers? market. To stay fit, I practice aerial dancing, yoga and acro yoga.
Funniest anecdote from life as a broker: I was helping a real estate agent with a listing and a potential client said he was thinking about making an all cash offer. He came back the next day with a bag of cash and literally wanted to put in an all cash deposit for his offer, he didn?t understand what ?all cash? meant.
Have you always been in the real estate industry or did you have a different career before entering brokerdom? I used to work for a pharmaceutical company in Germany before entering this world. I love numbers, so the transition was easy. I?ve also been doing (and still am doing) commercial fashion modeling. That?s a fun way to clear my head from numbers for a little while, but it?s not nearly as rewarding as helping people get the home of their dreams.
People in your industry are always so good looking. What are some of your secret grooming tips? Coconut oil for the hair and skin! From a lifestyle perspective, I try to eat organic an surround myself with people I love and make me laugh. The power of laughter is remarkable....something my dad taught me.
Kevin Ho of Vanguard Properties
What's the best part about selling real estate in San Francisco? Access and getting to see how people really live. Of course, it's great meeting new people all the time without having to depose them for a trial. And it's wonderful getting to see all the pretty houses and realizing opportunity when others don't see it. But what is far more interesting is seeing powerful lawyers, CEOs, start-up gurus and the like throw their laundry on the floor just like anyone else -- it's seeing people's dirty laundry, literally.
What do you like to do when you're not selling real estate? Is there such a time? Well, I like taking the my former seeing eye dog trainee to Duboce Park. I love biking with all the good folks with the AIDS LifeCycle and I love to shop and to eat...locally sourced, fair trade of course.
What separates you from the others in this competition? I am me and they are them. But in all honesty, I'm pretty "on" all the time and I get intensely involved with taking care of my clients. I give broad, lawyer-informed advice and I like to take pictures and videos that I send to my clients in the moment so we can get going and fast. For example, I use technology not just as a novelty to play Angry Birds, but my latest escrow only happened after I broadcast/Skyped an open house walk-through to a client based in Seattle for a great place in NoPa that was on the market for about 48 hours. That's what I do differently.
People in your industry are always so good looking. What are some of your secret grooming tips? That's a secret that is ancient as it is Chinese, but it involves garlic, creams and pearls.
