Internet, Computers and Technology ? Re: Connecting new laptop to ...

Two methods?

Wired:

Step1: Connect a RJ45 cable into the RJ45 ?hole? of your laptop and the other end into a RJ45 ?hole? at the back of the Thomson.

Step2: Within seconds you should see activity (in the form of an icon that looks like a little screen animating/radiating) on the bottom-most bar of the Windows environment trying to get an IP address.

Step3: Once it settles down just double click (run) the blue-ish Internet Explorer icon.

Wireless:

Step1: Look for a little button on the surface or sides of the laptop that has the wireless logo and turn it on so that it lights up.

Step2: Within seconds you should see activity (in the form of an icon that looks like a little screen animating/radiating) on the bottom-most bar of the Windows environment trying to get an IP address.

Step3: Double-click on that icon so that a list of available wireless networks appears. From that list choose the one with the strongest signal which will most likely be the one in your home.

Step4: You?ll be prompted to enter the ?password? in which case type in the ?Wep? number which can be found at the back of the Thomson unit. Look at the label under there.
